How we perform together as a team.
We use our 4C framework to hire, review and grow everyone at Integral. The same four categories apply to every role, to every seniority and to every team.
We grow the company together and make it better, every day.
Competence
Skill. Execution. Outcome. Does work that holds up, and delivers results you can point to.

- Do you approach problems with structured thinking, or do you wing it and rely on others to clean up?
- How often does your work ship without rework?
- Can you work across tools, systems and ambiguity without getting stuck?
Poor skill or tool choice, wrong implementation, or no attempt to clarify the problem before starting.
The work ships, but it lands late or the result falls short.
The work needs no rework, and you can explain the problem and the solution simply.
Contribution
Improves the company beyond the work assigned. Works together with the team to make the company better every day.
- Are you pushing the team to raise the bar, or just blending in?
- What have you accomplished that is not in your job description?
- How often do you wear multiple hats?
Accepts the status quo, and contributes only when asked. Ignores problems unless prompted.
Helps when asked, and suggests improvements now and then.
Cleans up without being asked, and implements process improvements unprompted.

Compatibility
Acts as a Kulturträger. Strengthens both the team and the company along every step.

- Do you live our values: Eat the Frog, Relentless Optimism, Calm Urgency?
- Do you raise issues and give feedback in a way that builds trust?
Kulturträger is German for “culture carrier.” Someone who actively builds the culture.
Creates friction in the team, and colleagues avoid collaborating.
Works well with others when required, but does not build connections or culture.
Builds culture actively. Founders and team seek this person out as a collaborator.
Commitment
Believes in the company and the people building it. Across every team, every day.
- Are you in it for the long-run?
- Do you radiate energy to the team around you?
Shows little care whether work ships, and brings little energy.
Present and supportive, but rarely goes beyond what the role requires.
Brings energy, and consistently delivers more than the goal.

Our job is to get better together as a team, every single day.
Reviews every six weeks tell everyone where they stand and what to improve. We use them to raise the bar at Integral, not to rank people against each other.
For builders who want to define a category, not join one.
Join tax advisors, accountants, operators and engineers rebuilding professional services from the inside.
